This level is not even really considered Managed Services. This level is what is referred to as break / fix support. In a nut shell, this is the service level where something breaks, and you call someone to fix it. There are a large number of companies and individuals that provide this service. You can start from the kid next door, to Future Shop, Staples, to the consultants that range from computer retail stores, and large scale private consultants. The cost of this type of service is all over the place. You might get the kid next door, or someone just starting out to help you for a very cheap rate an hour. If you engage professionals at this model, you are looking at significant cost, including if you have us complete the work.
This is the typical business model in our industry. It is very expensive and very time consuming for you as a business owner.
It is even more expensive when you factor in that your systems are down in this model. In this situation your systems are normally hard down, your employees or yourself is scrambling to fix your computers and are spinning their wheels for sometimes hours where you are losing business and money.
Companies tend to call anyone in the yellow pages, or someone they find in the internet, and they need them immediately.
The billing rate is astronomical at this stage, you are normally charged from when the technician leaves the shop, to the time they leave your premises. There is normally a minimum of 1 or 2 hours for the job, and there are normally substantial fees and extra minimum billing amounts when you need assistance outside of business hours, on weekends, and on holidays.
Hiring us at this level works out to be the most expensive of our support model because there really is not a business relationship beyond something breaks, and we fix it. This is not something we want to do.
